I am looking for another book about pirates. Perhaps a book that tells you how pirates live IDK about that though. Mainly a fiction book of fantasy, adventure, action, and love. The last one I read that I loved was " High Seas Stoway" and I am really looking for another one simular to that if anyone has any suggestions.

I just learned from some helpful people on this site what the pirates are supposedly about? I have been lax on current events these past few weeks. If these guys are so impoverished, where are they getting their weapons and high tech gear to go out and raid the high seas? If they get ransoms, are they helping the people out or just getting more weapons to go on pillaging? I guess finding a real job is out of the question, maybe in another country and sending money home to their family? People used to do things like that.
Based on the answers so far, I feel no compulsion to care about these so called impoverished individuals. If they take from those that work hard for what they have, they hopefully will get what they deserve.

What is your opinion on this?
Rush said on his show yesterday.
"Now just imagine the hue and cry had a Republican president ordered the shooting of black teenagers on the high seas."
So Rush is trying to paint the pirates as the victims now.

It used to be kinda obvious for the navies of all nations for ages :
whenever you encounter pirates on high seas, then your engagement orders are clear and do not require any authorization : free the hostages, hang the pirates, sink the vessel, get the medal.

What is it like on the open ocean on say a 40-50 ft sailboat or motor yacht. Have you ever encountered high seas, pirates, or crooked customs. Is it safe to bring your family on that trip? Also, when sailing from Florida’s gulf coast, how do you bypass the keys? Any good stories would be appreciated, thanks!

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A U.S. destroyer off the coast of Somalia closed in Saturday on a hijacked Ukrainian ship loaded with tanks and ammunition, watching it to ensure the pirates who seized it do not try to remove any cargo or crew.
…
In Somalia, a man claiming to be spokesman of the pirates holding the Ukrainian ship said the hijackers want million to release the vessel.
…
Pirate attacks worldwide have surged this year and Africa remains the world’s top piracy hotspot, with 24 reported attacks in Somalia and 18 in Nigeria this year, according to the International Maritime Bureau’s piracy reporting center.

The international community needs all the help they can get from any country with a credible naval capability to protect innocent ships from ruthless outlawed pirates.

I watched this sci-fi as a young kid, and I have been wanting to know the name of this movie. I remember this one scene, which stands out pretty clear. It is a time travel scene.
What I remember is that there is this one girl, who is very important and is sort of like a princess, or something of the sort. There is this guy that she likes and he likes her. He is sort of a rogue hero type of guy. There is also this pirate guy. The girl has a very old nanny who watches over her like a hawk, sort of protecting her innocence…
Anyway, the rogue/hero guy and the princess type girl sleep together one night on the ship. (this all takes place on a ship in space) Then they seem to enter this cloud that makes them travel through time. They are still in the present, where they move along as if they were in the present…but they are aging really fast the more they are in the cloud. There is this one part where the girl comes out of the room (by now pretty old herself) and she sees her nanny sitting near the door of her room, very much dead and gone and basically a skeleton. She and the rogue guy find each other in this big room on the ship and in bursts the pirate guy…he himself is also very old because he followed them into the cloud. They can’t fight him and his band of pirates…when all of a sudden a young man bursts through another wall of the ship and claims to be their son. He fights the pirates off and kills them. The parents are grateful and hug their son (I think), then they finally get out of the cloud and are back to their usual young selves. The nanny is once again alive and they look at her belly and realize they are pregnant.
Would be great if anyone could let me know the name of this movie…

Because it seems to me that since part two, since she learned to fight, double-cross, and be a pirate she doesn’t really exemplify any female traits other than being pretty and having female body parts. What are they trying to say about women? Is that how you really want to be?
It’d be one thing to have her be a rogue since birth and grow up around the pirates and have survived by her wits and whatnot, but she made such a turn around from the first movie, it seems unlikely and too forced. I mean Princess Leia could fire a blaster, but she used her reason and caring to defeat the Empire. Seeing her with a lightsaber would be as absurd as some tiny little alien… Oh. Well.
