Have we been able to win wars and get the spoils? Have we created any less suffering somewhere in the world? Have we been able to stop piracy on the high seas?

http://www.globalissues.org/article/75/world-military-spending

Out of every dollar spent on defense in the world the US spends 46.5 cents. A couple years ago it was 51%.

Reminder: The question was what good has come of it? Not is it enough.

is it possible to build a toll on the sea?

Does the law allow the countries to have tolls on their coast? And in the high-sea? Could it be controlled by satellite?
      Thanks

Situation taken from a judge’s decision: The crew of an English yacht were cast away in a storm on the high seas. In this boat they had no supply of water and no supply of food….that on the 18th day they suggested that one should be sacrificed to save the rest. That next day they went to the boy put a knife into his throat and killed him; that the 3 men fed upon the body of the boy for 4 days; that on the 4th day after the act had been commited the boat was picked up by a passing vessel and they were rescued, still alive. They were carried to the port of Falmouth and committed for trial. If the men had not fed upon the body of the boy they would probably not have survived to be picked up and rescued, but would within the 4 days have died of famine. The boy being in a much weaker condition, was likely to have died before them…. The real question is whether killing under the the conditions set forth be or be not murder. What factors should the judge take into account?

What are some old fashioned ways of addressing others?
For example during the Renaissance or Medieval times, what did they call one another?
Also, what did the regular folk call each other?

Please give me examples and tell me what they mean.

          Examples~

Madam: Used as a form of polite address for a woman, the mistress of a household, or a woman who manages a brothel.

My lady: a form of madam

Wench: A young woman or girl, especially a peasant girl, a woman servant, or a vulgar promiscuous woman who flouts propriety.

Sir: Used as a form of polite address for a man or used as an honorific before the given name or the full name of baronets and knights.

I always thought that those words were normal words for "Man" and "Woman" but me and my cousin were having a conversation and he talked about a documentary where church singers of those times (I think he said 13th century) weren’t like the religious people singing in churches today. They were actually a bunch of hooligans and fought among themselves. One even got expelled for calling his fellow singers "Rogues" and "Knaves."
So if "Knave" wasn’t the standard term for "Man" I wonder if the same is for "Wench."
